Gerry is know internationally as a Deaf role model, not only for his sailing achievements but for his work in education and sign language. This means that he is contacted by school pupils, school teachers, university interpreting students and well as people interested in sailing. So much of the content of the previous websites is a valuable resource for people.
An example of the type of work Gerry does: during Deaf Awareness Week. Gerry met with primary school pupils in Pontefract. They watched the documentary Silent Odyssey and then Gerry joined them via a remote link. The pupils asked gerry some very challenging questions! The school received two copies of his book, access to the video and the pupils met Gerry.
