Gerry was presented with and Outstanding Achievements Award at Cathkin Braes Golf Club at their first Honorary Membership Celebration Dinner Friday on 27th March 2015.
The award was presented by Frank Munro (Captain of Cathkin Braes, Golf Club).
During his acceptance speech, Gerry explained that he felt very privileged to receive the award. He inherited his love of golf from his uncle Gerard W Hughes and that while he was tackling a ferocious 17-day storm in the Southern Oceans, he kept himself going by thinking about being back on the golf course at Cathkin Braes.

Sandy Rogerson: Honorary President of Cathkin Braes Golf Club.
Lord William Haughey Kt, OBE of Hutchesontown: Honorary Member of Cathkin Braes Golf Club.
