Gerry was invited by the Lord Dean of the Guild, Raymond Williamson to give the after dinner speech and toast to the Merchants House at the members Annual Dinner on 28th March, 2014.  Gerry and Kay were overwhelmed by the warm and friendly welcome they received from all the members of the Merchants House.  The Lord Dean of the Guild explained to the members that he had been inspired by Gerry’s story when he met him at the Civic Reception at the City Chambers, and decided that night he would invite him to give the after dinner speech.  Gerry and Kay both felt very emotional as he then explained why Gerry is such an inspiration to the people of Glasgow.   After Gerry’s talk and the toast to the Merchants House, The Lord Dean of the Guild announced that Gerry was invited to become an Honorary Member of the Merchant House and asked him to sign the register of members.
