Helga Stevens re-elected as a Member of Flemish Parliament

09 Jun 2009

Helga Stevens

Former EUD Director and President, Helga Stevens, was re-elected to serve the second term in the Flemish Parliament in Belgium. Her party N-VA had a huge success in the election, winning an additional ten seats (16 in total). Helga amassed an amazing 15.856 votes which means she got 12.71% of the votes in total of her party in her constituency of East-Flanders. (see the chart below). Thanks to her re-election as Flemish MP, Helga can automatically continue her mandate in the Belgian Senate as Community Senator.

EUD Board and Staff would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Helga on her remarkable electoral victory. We hope it will serve as an inspiration to other deaf people who have aspirations to serve their country through their Parliament.
